Goodbye, Dublin
The second time to be in Dublin. Actually here is just a small place that the town center spends you only 20 minutes north/south and east/west driving. But the single ways and congestion can triple the time... People here are nice, drivers help foreigners while pedestrians rush into the streets randomly though . You can't imagine a 60 years old lady dares to rush the red light when vehicles are running. Bicycle riders get across more than two lanes in front of a moving bus. Traffic lights are to stop the vehicles only. Red to the vehicles means vehicles must stop, but red to pedestrians mean they can cross the road if they can! Very much depends on their confidence and ability! Oo...
Food consumes most of the money, a normal meal needs €30 at least in restaurants. I wondered if it's the cost for Chinese food, as we had several Chinese meals and a dish of fried Choi Sum is €16.5 and steamed fish (sea bass) is €29.5. But going to steak still cost €20. So not a big difference. Had tried to buy goat milk, bread, slice ham and beef, cranberry juicy from supermarket for lunch, €10 per head! It's at least 50% more expensive that Verona. Parking also kills, €2.95 for an hour in the shopping mall. Only buying clothes in the department stores (under reduction) is worthy, €5 for a shirt which is probably $200 in H&M. The shoes in Verona are cool too! That's why I spend €90 for 3 pairs of them (totally)!
One week in Dublin will not be too long if you are happy with the relaxing life style and with a good companion that willing to share the relaxing life style with you. Or else you'll prefer to end it as soon as you can. I can say only the fresh milk and the mussels in Johnnie Fox's Pub make me remember this city. This is a good place to stay for holiday: the Grafton Street, the Temple Bar, Cathedrals and Churches, medieval architectures... But when one finds it no where to kill the time after meeting with customer he'll probably back home with the 13 hours flight.
Anyway, I will love to visit the country side next time, if I have the chance.
Dublin, see you next time.
